An African-American Perspective on the Recession and Recovery
African-Americans are not strangers to economic challenges, and they may have a different take on how to survive the current Recession. Some surveys suggest that black consumers are more optimistic than whites because they have regularly faced adversity. The NiaOnline May, 2010 Omnibus survey, "The Economic Recovery According to African Americans," will provide valuable insights into how or whether we are positioned to take full advantage as the economy shows turns around. Nia Enterprises in-depth presentations are always anxiously anticipated. This will session will be a unique opportunity to gain up-to-the-minute research that can be invaluable in guiding business strategies.

The Expectations of Millennials and What Marketers Need To Know
Millennials, those born between 1979 and 1993, are a generation of optimistic leaders, more concerned than previous generations about making a difference in the world they've inherited.  However, according to a new study released by IMAGES USA and The Futures Company (formerly Yankelovich, Inc.), a closer look shows African- American and Hispanic millennials surpass their White peers regarding concerns with community involvement, and their ability to effect positive change in the world. This presentation will look at the results from this first-of-its-kind study.

African Americans Revealed: BET Network's Comprehensive  on Black America

"African Americans Revealed shows us that the black community should never be referred to as one homogeneous population," said Matthew Barnhill, Senior Vice President of Corporate Research at BET Networks. "We hope this report will help organizations better connect with an audience and intimately recognize all of its complexities." BET Networks analyzed data from more than 80,000 consumers to understand the values, interests and lifestyles of African Americans and the relationship their personal aspirations, family structures, media preferences and product consumption serve. This will be a rare opportunity for our attendees to hear the results.

How African-American Women Consumers Feel About Ad Messages

According to a national study, eighty-six percent of African-American women say that advertisers need to do a better job of talking to them. The research was conducted by Lattimer Communications in collaboration with The Bantam Group, and revealed that industries like Automotive, Banking/Financial, Travel, Healthcare/Pharmaceutical, and Fast Food should change the way in which they address their marketing to the $360 billion African-American women's segment.

Understanding the New Black Affluent Market
In a struggling economy, marketers place a special focus on those that are spending above average. These are the same consumers that will increase their expenditures first as the economy improves. The black affluent market has grown substantially over the past five years, and the while recession caused a change in how everyone spends, this segment was less inclined to cut back. This panel and presentation will look ate the growing opportunity in targeting upscale black households.

ROI: Black Consumer Spending and Targeted Advertising
For the past 15 years, The Buying Power of Black America report has recorded the spending habits of African-American households and has regularly cited categories in which black consumers over-index the spending of their white counterparts. Why do blacks consistently spend more than whites on about 15 categories of some of the most popular items in services, grocery and retail outlets? How should this fact effect advertising and marketing expenditures targeted to these consumers? This presentation will explore some answers to these questions.
